Today we interview Antje Fedderke, Head of Legal Protection International, committed to promoting access to justice and law through a more effortless, affordable, and high-quality legal protection insurance since 2006, and Ambassador of ELTA, the European Legal Technology Association.
Before discussing with Antje her vision on legal technology, let’s get to know her a little better.
Hi, please introduce yourself to our readers! What’s your name and your job in the legal tech scenario?
Antje Fedderke, Head of Legal Protection International, the Association of Leaders in Legal Protection. In 1999 I started my career in the insurance field in the European Office of the GDV, the German Insurance Association. Before that, as a European and qualified German lawyer and lecturer specializing in European Law, I worked for the EU-Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition. I am also Ambassador of ELTA, the European Legal Technology Association.
Why do you think that innovation and technology are essential in the legal sector?
Innovation and technology are crucial to the legal industry because access to justice needs is changing, people look for new ways of meeting their legal needs.
You are Ambassador/Director at ELTA. Why should one join a legal tech association?
To be in touch with peers and now what is happening.
Give our readers a quick picture of legal tech in your country. Let’s start from this: is the legal system aligned with the level of innovation of the country’s economic, social and cultural contexts?
In Belgium, there are emerging technologies and innovative ideas. The legal system, however, is still quite conservative and traditional.
